Music and working with my hands have always been two of my most favorite activities. So in 1995 at the age of 18 when I met a local guitar builder at a coffee house, the passion for lutherie hit me like a lightning bolt. That may sound painful and in truth, it sometimes is, but I can’t imagine following any other path with my life. I apprenticed with guitar maker Jamonn Zeiler in 1996 before graduating from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in the Spring of ‘97 class. In 2005 I built a couple instruments under the name Harshbarger Luthiery. I operated Highland Strings from 2006 to 2016 and plan to remain using Harshbarger Strings for as long as I can make dust.
